Still in pain after medications, injections,
and the other PT?

Most physical therapy treats where you hurt. We find where the problem actually started. We pair you with the right doctor and the right technologies to help you make real improvements in every session.

South Jersey Physical Therapy overview

You've done everything they told you to do.

You went to the orthopedist. Got the MRI. Were told it's bone on bone, arthritic, or "normal for your age." You tried injections. You did physical therapy at two or three different clinics. Each one gave you some relief. None of it lasted.

That pattern is not a coincidence. And it is not because your body is broken.

The reason most treatment gives temporary relief is that it treats where you feel the pain, not where the problem started. Your shoulder hurts, so the shoulder gets treated. Your back hurts, so the back gets worked on. But if the origin is somewhere else, the pain keeps returning.

Aches in your shoulder and neck might be coming from something deeper: a breathing issue, or tension in your liver or gut. Your sleep, your stress, your nutrition. Everything is interwoven. When providers only look at one piece, the rest of the picture stays broken.

What you've been told is "normal aging" or "just something you have to manage" is often incomplete mechanics that can be addressed. The question is whether anyone has looked in the right place.

Dr. Ken Cheng performing a movement assessment

60%

As many as 60% of patients recommended for spine surgery did not actually need it, according to research on surgical appropriateness in musculoskeletal care.

What we actually do, in his words.

Dr. Cheng explains why pain in one part of your body often starts somewhere else entirely, and what it means to look at the whole body as a whole system.

What we actually use and why it matters.

Every method below is specific, named, and researchable. We use these because they address the underlying causes of pain, not just the symptoms.

Assessment

Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)

A whole-body movement screen that identifies where mechanics have broken down. Finds the actual source of pain, which is often not where you feel it.

Assessment

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)

Retrains core stabilization based on the developmental movement patterns your nervous system was built on. Addresses root-level motor control, not just muscle weakness.

Assessment

Visceral Assessment

Evaluates tension in your organs: heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, digestive system. Organ restriction can directly cause or perpetuate musculoskeletal pain. Most providers never check this.

Framework

I3 Methodology

Incomplete mechanics lead to repeated Incidents, which cause Injury. This framework explains why pain keeps returning after treatment that only addresses the symptom.

Treatment

Functional Dry Needling

Uses thin acupuncture needles to release trigger points and break the tension cycle in soft tissue. Faster than manual release alone for deep or chronic muscle restriction.

Treatment

Stimpod NMS460

Pulsed electromagnetic nerve stimulation for neuropathy and nerve pathway dysfunction. Retrains damaged nerve pathways rather than masking nerve pain with medication.

Treatment

PEMF Therapy

Pulsed electromagnetic fields restore cellular energy, improve circulation, and accelerate tissue regeneration. Works at the cellular level, where healing actually happens.

Treatment

Lightforce Class IV Laser

Penetrates deep tissue to reduce inflammation and stimulate cellular repair. Reaches structures that surface-level modalities cannot access effectively.

Conventional PT vs. how we work.

The difference is structural, not cosmetic. The business model, the assessment process, and the treatment philosophy are built differently from the ground up.

Category South Jersey PT Conventional PT
Session format 1-on-1 with your provider. Every session. No aides, no rotation. 10-15 minutes with the therapist, remainder with a PT aide or independently.
What gets assessed Whole-body movement, organ tension, nerve pathways, breathing patterns, lifestyle factors. Primarily the area where you report pain.
Payment model Cash-based. We work for you, not your insurer. HSA/FSA accepted. Insurance-based. Visit limits, treatment restrictions, and session length set by your plan.
Treatment philosophy Find where the problem actually started. Treat the origin, not only the symptom. Reduce pain at the symptomatic site. Progress through standard protocols.
Eastern medicine Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Ayurvedic principles, and visceral assessment are integrated into the clinical model. Not part of standard practice.
Patient education You understand why each exercise and treatment decision matters before you leave. Varies. Often exercise instruction without explanation of mechanism.
Entry point Free 20-minute discovery visit. No treatment, no cost, no commitment. Typically requires a referral. Initial appointment is billable.
Referral required No. New Jersey is a direct-access state. Often required, depending on clinic and insurance plan.

"I already had surgery scheduled, but after hearing such incredible things about Dr. Ken, I decided to give physical therapy a real shot first. Within a couple of months, my shoulder was fully functional again, and I avoided surgery entirely."

S.M. / Torn labrum, surgery cancelled

★★★★★

"I had a right knee that was bone on bone. Dante gave me exercises that helped me walk with confidence. I'm not getting a knee replacement at this point, as my orthopedist feels with reduced pain and flexibility I can push surgery until it feels necessary."

T.S. / Bone-on-bone knee, replacement deferred

★★★★★

"During my first appointment with Dr. Gina, she manipulated my diaphragm and gave me an exercise to do at home. I felt relief from my GERD symptoms after that first manipulation and have continued to have relief and rarely think about GERD anymore."

B.S. / GERD resolved after diaphragm work

★★★★★

"He identified a problem in my body, explained options to help, and suggested the PEMF therapy. I felt a clear improvement as soon as I got off the table. Definitely an elevated and holistic form of PT that gets lasting results."

J.T. / PEMF therapy, lasting improvement

2

90-Minute Initial Evaluation

Comprehensive, 1-on-1. Full-body movement screening using SFMA. Assessment of joint mechanics, visceral organ tension, nerve pathways, and breathing patterns. Root cause identified.

3

Personalized Treatment Plan

A plan built around your specific presentation. Manual therapy, movement retraining, targeted modalities, and lifestyle recommendations combined based on what your assessment showed.

4

Ongoing 1-on-1 Sessions

Every session is with your provider. Progress is assessed and the plan adjusts. You understand the reasoning behind every decision.
